Buying Tips / Alert

Buy safe - For Our Online Car buyers

HarareCars.com does not endorse adverts or sell / rent out cars directly.

We constantly search for fraudulent adverts on the site, which are removed and passed to the police for further investigation.

We have also received reports of HarareCars.com advertised with unusually low sale prices. These emails provide detailed information on the Car, which is often located abroad, and pressure the buyer into making a payment to secure the car for a viewing.

Please note, HarareCars.com does not offer a facility to verify transactions, or pass on information between buyers and sellers. HarareCars.com will not act as an intermediary or arrange or confirm payment arrangements.

On some occasions, fraudulent sellers may pressure buyers into parting with all of their money before seeing the Car.

It is essential for you to trust the seller – and be sure the Car is genuine – before parting with any money, even a small deposit.

* Always check the legal status and paper work of any Car to purchase.

*Do not provide any payment details  until:
a) You have seen or your representative have seen the Car
b) Verified that the Car is legitimate with legal documents
c) Verified the reason for being on the market.
d) Too good to be true, probably not true.

* The safest way to transfer money to a developer is via an escrow account, where it's held until project completion. Paypal is also another trusted means of online payment.

Be advised to take all the necessary legal steps during the process of your Car transaction.  HarareCars.com is not responsible for any issues arising during and after the Car transaction period.

Car scam advice

HarareCars.com will never ask you to provide us with personal information such as login details or credit card numbers in an email or phone call.

Don't give out your personal details over the phone or in an email - and beware of fraudulent links in emails.

That’s the message from HarareCars.com, after reports of customers receiving emails asking them to view a duplicate Car advert.

Scammers are emailing sellers with a 'duplicate advert' of their Car, before providing a link to what looks like HarareCars.com's log in page - but is in fact a fake. The scammer then uses the customers details to change advert descriptions and contact details.

Please note: only log in to your account via the HarareCars.com website, not from links in emails. If you're already logged in and are asked to sign in again after clicking on a link from an email, beware.

Don't give your personal details out over email.

If you receive an email claiming to do this, please forward it to our Customer Services team at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Car Scammers Alert
419 scammers - targeting Car owners!
Ok these scammers / bums are now targetting Car owners. The scam is geared around passing over fake or counterfeit cheques (checks) how the whole scam works I still do not fully understand. However how their other scams work, and they all seem to follow the same format only with slight changes to the scamming senario.

NEVER BELIEVE A STORY THAT SAYS THEY WILL SEND YOU A CHEQUE AS DEPOSIT - THEN YOU SEND MONEY TO THEIR Car TEAM, SO THEY CAN COME AND INSPECT IT.

Heres what they will try to do!

1. Say that they want to buy it, but are busy, they will say they are sending someone to view, but they have problem getting money to the person who is to view the Car. They will try to get you to take a cheque keep some as a deposit then you send the rest to the person due to view the Car.

2. Get you to rent the Car you are selling - giving you a fake cheque. They decide they no longer want to rent the Car when you have the cheque. They will make up some story that will have you feeling sorry for them DO NOT FEEL SORRY FOR THEM! Then will ask you to cash the cheque, asking you to keep some for the hassle. They will be in a real hurry to get the money sent back to them and will suggest you use western union or money gram NEVER USE WESTERN UNION OR MONEYGRAM you have no support if it all goes bad. The cheque will bounce - it will be either a counterfeit or a modified one for a greater amount. Once your bank realises the cheque is fake they will be after the money you sent the scammers from you!

3. may try to get you to meet them in some other country - not 100% sure why this is, basically never go to see someone overseas. They want to buy your house they come to see you! this I have read is where they show you a trunk box full of money - well the top layer is the rest are photocopies. They then will say they have problems getting the cash out of the country and ask you to pay a security company to help move it.

4. Avoid people who talk about a third party - they say they are buying for a client, buying for a relative, even they have investors who are interested in buying your home.

5. If buying never give a deposit to secure a house that you have not seen. There have been cases of fake adverts placed that are well priced - they say that to secure it you need to send a deposit .... you will send a deposit for a house they do not have. If you must then use an escrow service like www.escrow.com no others!

Basically if anything seems complicated, bizarre, awkward or you are just suspicious walk away! Too good to be true then it is probably not true so stay away.
